I started out by creating a top-down map of Heaven and Hell in Photoshop. From there, I set up a 3x3 landscape and started to model out the areas the player would walk. Next, I used the Mega Scans library to find surface materials that I could paint on the landscapes. I also used the Mega Scans library to find rock formations and flower assets to use in the negative spaces in the landscapes. I then had to create a portal system to teleport the player between the two maps. The system I ended up creating connected two places together by an ID number, with a collision area that could be placed anywhere. I decided to give the player a HUD display to show them that they can interact with something in these collision areas, as well as placed down decals to indicate places of interest. Lastly, I set up two platformer / parkour areas for the player to grab a collectible. At this stage, the player is only climbing up a tower-like structure, while using the portal ability to continue along the player's path.
